The Youth AG-Summit 2015

The Youth Ag-Summit 2015 which was a joint event with the national youth ag-organisation, Futures Farmers Network, took place in Canberra, Australia. 100 young bright minds from 33 countries came together to work on joint solutions on global food challenges.

During the week-long event, the delegates listened to inspirational key notes, went on field trips, dove into the local culture and worked on two concise outcomes during break-out sessions: The Canberra Youth Ag-Declaration and the individual challenges called “3 little things”. The Declaration was developed to drive change on a global and local level. It shows how young people can help achieve the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development goal: End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture. The Declaration is supported by an action plan to help realise our goals. The Declaration was presented to the CFS (Conference on World Food Security) by two YAS delegtates in Rome in October 2015.

The “3 little things” are actions which each delegate takes back home to drive change on a local level.
